If every twist and turn in the ongoing story of the legality of our favorite plant had its own episode, it would be The Young and the Restless. We’ll keep you caught up on the major plot points.
The BIG thing-
We are presently operating under the “grace period” before a federal ban kicks in and takes away hemp with any amount of THC over 0.4 mgs per container. That’s most of what we sell, and your favorite stuff from us is likely to fall in that category (Including Ganja Grape gummies).
WHY is this happening?
One reason is the continuing stigma around cannabis. Another, possibly much larger reason is that as cannabis use has grown in recent years, alcohol use is shrinking. The huge companies that produce alcoholic beverages have strong lobbyists.
The end comes on Thursday, November 12th of this year…
Unless we (As in, us, who produce and sell hemp and you, a person who personally benefits from hemp) manage to stop it from happening.
Here’s how you can get started.
There are many steps forward and many steps back. Today, we can report upon a step forward:
On April 23rd, the Department of Justice moved medical cannabis products to Schedule 3. That means that the government now officially considers cannabis to be less addictive than commonly prescribed pharmaceuticals like oxycodone and to have true medicinal value.
That word medicinal is an important caveat- the DOJ still assigns “adult use” cannabis as Schedule 1. That’s the same category as heroin and PCD in terms of addiction risk and therapeutic value, or lack thereof. This indicates that the DOJ considers THC to be non-addictive and beneficial to your health, but only so long as you have a prescription.
If that mental math doesn’t quite add up for you, you’re not alone.
The spectrum of positive uses for cannabis is so much wider than is widely recognized. If you’re reading this, then you most likely are aware of this fact.
Our hope is that those who make these kinds of decisions will come to bridge the gulf.
As with most things, the key to unlocking positive change is increased understanding. We are unabashed cannabis evangelists. You are a person who is probably busy in your day-to-day life, but please never doubt the power of sharing your positive hemp experience with other people.
Because it’s one person at a time that major change happens.
We are actively engaging with local and federal legislators in an attempt to stop the ban, but you can help by contacting your legislators as well. Hemp and marijuana can co-exist. After all, it is the same plant.
