The hemp industry in Kentucky is facing big changes.

With the recent passage of Senate Bill 202 (SB202), new rules are coming—especially for retailers selling hemp-infused drinks. At 502 Hemp, these updates will directly impact some of the products we offer you starting June 1, 2025. Let’s break it down simply.

What is Changing Under SB202?

Sales Restricted to Liquor Stores

Starting June 1, 2025, only businesses with a liquor license can sell hemp beverages. These licenses are rare, especially in Jefferson County, which means fewer places will be allowed to carry products like ours.

New Hemp Beverage License Required

SB202 also requires a special license just to sell hemp beverages. These licenses don’t exist yet and will likely come with extra costs and red tape for businesses.

Cannabinoid Limits

The law now limits hemp drinks to 5 mg of intoxicating cannabinoids per 12 oz. This change may affect full-spectrum products known for their broader benefits.

What This Means for 502 Hemp

These new rules could force us to stop selling some of your favorite drinks. This may include:

We’re doing everything we can to keep these products available, but compliance with SB202 may make it impossible under the new law.

Even with these challenges, we’re not going anywhere. We will:
