October 10th is World Mental Health Day, a day dedicated to raising awareness about mental health issues around the world. This year’s theme is “Make Mental Health & Well-Being for All a Global Priority”. According to the World Health Organization, depression is the leading cause of disability worldwide, and one in four people will experience a mental health issue in their lifetime. It’s important to take care of your mental health every day, but especially on World Mental Health Day. Here are five ways that you can support your mental health!

  1. Get enough sleep: Sleep is essential for mental health. Make sure that you’re getting enough rest by going to bed and waking up at the same time each day, avoiding caffeine before bed, and disconnecting from electronics an hour before sleep.
  2. Eat healthy: Eating nutritious foods helps your body to function at its best. Make sure to eat plenty of fruits, vegetables, whole grains, and lean proteins. Avoid processed foods, sugary drinks, and excessive alcohol intake.
  3. Exercise: Exercise releases endorphins that have mood-boosting effects. A moderate amount of exercise is the key to maintaining mental health. Choose an activity that you enjoy and start moving!
  4. Take breaks: When you’re feeling overwhelmed or stressed, take a few minutes to yourself to relax and rejuvenate. Take a hot bath, read your favorite book, or take a walk outdoors.
  5. Connect with others: Social support is crucial for mental health. Spend time with family and friends, join a supportive community, or seek professional help if you’re struggling. You don’t have to go through this alone!

Another way to help your mental health may be trying CBD.  CBD is known for its powerful anti-anxiety properties. Studies have shown that CBD helps to regulate the release of neurotransmitters in the brain, which can play an important role in moderating mood and stress levels. Furthermore, CBD has been shown to help block adverse effects of specific receptors in the brain, reducing the overall reactivity of the system and helping to prevent stress-related symptoms such as insomnia, muscle tension, and panic attacks. Overall, CBD could be a powerful ally for anyone struggling with anxiety or other related disorders. Whether used alone or in combination with other treatments, CBD has the potential to help people manage their symptoms more effectively and regain control over their lives.

Lastly, talking to a therapist can be incredibly helpful for managing mental health issues. If you’re feeling like you need someone to talk to, consider making an appointment with a therapist in your area.
