What are CBD Topicals & How Do You Benefit?

By August 13, 2019 4 Comments

The CBD and the hemp industry is rapidly growing.  One such area is CBD topicals and the information can be difficult to sort through.  502 Hemp breaks down what are CBD topicals and the science behind the benefits of using these products.

What are CBD Topicals?

hemp extractSimply, topicals are personal care products applied directly to the skin that contains hemp extract, hemp seed oil, and/or hemp root. We know it can become confusing when understanding how each hemp component can help you.  Hemp extract is extracted from the hemp plant which contains all or part of the cannabinoids represented on the chart to the left. Full-spectrum hemp extract contains all of the cannabinoids in the chart. CBD isolate contains only the CBD or cannabidiol in yellow.  CBD topicals containing hemp extracts should be labeled full-spectrum hemp extract/CBD or CBD isolate. Hemp seed oil does not contain any of the cannabinoids listed on the chart. This means hemp seed oil is not hemp extract and does not contain any medicinal value of CBD or the other cannabinoids. Like hemp seed oil, hemp root does not contain the cannabinoids found in hemp extract either.  However, hemp root does contain terpenes and other natural healing compounds. Isoprenes in the form of tri-terpenoids exist in hemp root and they contain their own benefits. CBD topicals are accompanied by other ingredients as well. When reading labels, take caution for too many ingredients and toxic ingredients.

How Do You Benefit?

There can be much to gain in using hemp products in your personal care routine.  The science of the benefits of hemp in topicals comes down to three scientific concepts: antioxidants,  cannabinoids, and terpenes.

The Power of Antioxidants

antioxidantsFree radicals are cells that have an electron, negative ion, that is without a positive ion, proton.  As long as that electron does not receive a proton mate, it triggers a process called oxidative stress. Oxidative stress is toxic to our bodies and starts killing cells within our bodies.  Rust is an outward example of oxidation and the degrading of substances. Both processes are similar. The consequences for humans, in the least, is this process being a catalyst for aging.  Oxidative stress damages cellular DNA and is recognized as a potential cancer-causing agent in the medical and science field. Damage to cells and their DNA could cause a variety of health issues, including affecting the brain.  Plants offer the anecdote to free radicals with antioxidants. Antioxidants offer the free radical what it wants, a positive charge. This inactivates the free radical. Each plant has a unique set of antioxidants. Hemp plants, seed, or roots are no different. Hemp contains the antioxidants vitamin E, tocopherol, phytol.  These are just three major players of antioxidants. Plant antioxidant exists various sizes, as antioxidant variety is crucial because free radicals are not created in one size. Variety increases the likelihood of stabilizing more free radicals. When hemp plants are combined with other natural plant ingredients this increases the variety and potency of antioxidants in the CBD topical.  Many of 502 Hemp’s CBD topicals use hemp plants, essential oils, and other natural ingredients. Using a CBD topical could help with aging and protecting cellular integrity with the hemp plant’s unique set of antioxidants.

Cannabinoids &

Terpenes Aid in Healing

Cannabinoids in hemp extract work with an existing system in your body to promote a myriad of healing processes.  Throughout your peripheral nervous system are CB2 receptors that contribute to the endocannabinoid system. Your body has receptors specifically for cannabinoids.  When various cannabinoids meet these CB2 receptors from CBD topicals found with hemp extract, action is triggered for what your body needs. Terpenes found all throughout the hemp plant work with your body naturally to provide several health benefits.  While they do not have specific receptors, terpenes can help boost healing biological processes like inflammation reduction, bacteria and fungal killing, and pain relief depending on the terpene. The cannabinoids in hemp extract work more directly with your biological systems and terpenes help naturally boost healing processes based on the olfactory receptors.  Using both in CBD topicals can provide multiple health benefits.

It’s beautiful value enough for me. Personally, if
all webmasters and bloggers made just right content material as you probably did, the internet will probably be much more useful than ever before.

I truly love your site.. Excellent colors & theme.
Did you build this site yourself? Please

you got this from or what the theme is named. Appreciate it!
You have made some good points there. I looked on the net for more info
about the issue and found most individuals will go along with your views on this web site.

Thank you! We try to provide quality information. As for our site, we had someone create it for us. Unsure of the themes etc, but I’m sure a company that specializes in web designs could help answer those questions.

  • I couldn’t refrain from commenting. Exceptionally well written!
